Where can you find amazing archery, horrible history, brilliant birds, wicked weaponry, dark dungeons and a marvellous maze, all in one place?! Warwick Castle, that’s where!

We spent a weekend exploring this awesome attraction in the West Midlands, soaking up the history and epic experiences on offer…

What’s on?

Warwick Castle is full to the turrets with stuff to do…

Try your hand at archery!

This half term, Warwick Castle is running a two-week Festival of Archery! Witness the amazing archery-themed entertainment in the castle grounds, including jaw-dropping stunts and demonstrations. You’ll even have the opportunity to meet a Bowman and try it out yourself, at the Have-a-go Archery station!

Be amazed by the Horrible Histories® Maze!

Lose yourself in history, literally, as you weave your way around the Horrible Histories® Maze, from the Measly Middle Ages to the Vile Victorians, explore awesome tales from the past through epic games and cool challenges.

Be wowed by the castle’s birds of prey!

Marvel as the castle’s winged residents soar overhead in the Birds of Prey show, (believe us when we say they really do fly right over your head!). Learn about these spectacular birds and witness their skill in the skies.

Explore the castle’s gory past!

Check out the immersive Kingmaker Experience experience which allows you to see, feel and even smell what it would have been like preparing for battle at Warwick in medieval times! Then explore the weaponry filling the Great Hall and The Castle Dungeon experience*, if you dare!

Solve the riddle in the Princess Tower!

Super sleuths, you’re needed at the Princess Tower**! The resident princess is desperately trying to reunite the legendary Guy of Warwick with his true love, Lady Felice, but to do so, there’s a riddle to solve! Help the princess crack the clues and help this long-lost couple live happily ever after.

Make a ‘knight’ of it in the Knight’s Village!

Want to continue the fun? Enjoy an epic overnight stay in a medieval-themed lodge in the Knight’s Village – right within the castle grounds! These cosy lodges are fit for royalty with a smart TV, brilliant bunk beds (and a comfy double for mum and dad!) and feature swords, shields and arrows on the walls – cool!

Enjoy medieval-themed dining in the banquet hall restaurant, along with entertainment from the resident Knights. You’re in the perfect position to rejoin the fun in the castle again the following day!

Fun facts about Warwick Castle!

• Princess Ethelfleda, daughter of Alfred the Great, was responsible for the first fortifications being built at Warwick in 914AD.

• Warwick Castle was built in 1068 under the orders of William the Conqueror, making it 954 years old this year.

• The castle boasts the world’s largest siege machine – you can see it on your visit!

• Richard Neville, 14th Earl of Warwick, is known as the ‘Kingmaker’, for his part in England’s infamous Wars of the Roses – a series of battles fought in the 15th Century.

• Steeped in history, torture and punishment, Warwick Castle is – unsurprisingly – one of the most haunted places in England! Among its most frequent paranormal sightings is the ghostly figure of a black dog.
