It’s no secret that science is epic. It’s all around us, transforming our lives in more ways than we can imagine.

As you’re reading this right now you’re surrounded by the wonders of scientific discovery, from the technology in your hands to the electric light illuminating around you.

Whether it’s the food we eat, the air we breathe, or the medicine that keeps us healthy, science plays a crucial role in every aspect of our lives. Cool, right?

One awesome organisation that lives and breathes science is The Royal Institution. But who exactly are they? Let’s find out…

Royal Institution – Fast Facts!

  • The Royal Institution was founded in 1799 to make the general public more aware of the latest scientific discoveries. They believe science is for everyone and want more people to explore and get involved. Yep, even you!
  • – They became the world’s leading scientific institution in the 19th century and continued ground-breaking research into the late 20th century. 15 Nobel prizes have been won by scientists working at the Ri, plus 10 elements of the Periodic Table were discovered there. Nice!
  • – The Ri building in London always has something going on! There’s a free museum which is open every weekday, plus they often have family events and holiday workshops too.
