These gingerbread Christmas tree biscuits are good for the planet and they’re really yummy, too. Get baking, gang!

How to make Christmas tree biscuits

What you’ll need…

250g unsalted butter
200g dark muscovado sugar
7 tbsp golden syrup
600g plain flour
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
4 tsp ground ginger
Icing sugar
Rolling pin
Pan
Mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Knife (and an adult!)
Baking sheets
Ribbon or string
Sweets, sprinkles and food colourings for decorating

Step 1

First, preheat the oven to 200˚C. Then melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a pan.

Step 2

Now, mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ground ginger into a bowl. Next, stir in the melted butter mixture to make a stiff dough.

Step 3

On the baking paper, roll out the dough until it’s about twice as thick as a pound coin. Then, use the knife to carefully cut out cool Christmas shapes.

TOP TIP!
Always make sure you get a grown-up to help you in the kitchen!

Step 4

Bake the gingerbread shapes in the oven for 12 minutes and then leave them to cool. Now, with help from a grown-up, use the knife to carefully carve a hole near the top of each festive decoration.

Step 5

Mix the icing sugar with water and smooth it over the shapes, then add some decorations. When your treats are dry, thread ribbon through the holes and hang them on the tree!

This website is amazing! When my best friend Nidal moved to Texas, I was devastated. But soon I started to read Nat Geo Kids articles, which are his favorite thing, and I realized just how great they are! Now I read them every day when I come home from school, and when I facetime Nidal, it's all we can seem to talk about. Nat Geo Kids has brought me and my best friend closer than ever before, even though, physically, we are thousands of miles apart. I hope that you keep making articles like this! Thank you, Nat Geo Kids, for changing my life for the better, and making me happier than I ever could have imagined! I love you guys!❤️❤️❤️
