Here at Creature & Co., it’s our mission to inform, inspire and empower people to act on the world’s challenges through engaging storytelling and experiences. So, how did we do that in 2023?

Excitingly, we launched two new products! To reach even more readers, we launched National Geographic Little Kids magazine aimed at children aged 3–6 years. Plus, to provide a different learning experience, we launched a series of live online events featuring National Geographic Explorers.

In total, we reached over 14.2 million people with educational content through Nat Geo Kids magazines, newsstand, subscriptions, website visits and online events in 2023 🥳

We started sewing paper gifts and sticker sheets into our magazines, which has saved over 37,000 envelopes being printed every month – and we’ve started surveying suppliers to record the carbon impact of all our packaging and production.

Plus, we donated our time and resources. 13,000 copies of Nat Geo Kids, worth £77,870, were donated to the NHS, and our staff used 14 volunteer days to support local community groups. Six charities benefited from our advertising rate discount, including RSPCA, Raspberry Pi Foundation and Surfers Against Sewage.

On the people side of things, our team each received a £500 training budget to  develop their skills, and we introduced an anti-racism training that’s now completed by every new-starter at the company. 90% of our staff agreed or strongly agreed with the statement ‘I’m proud to work for Creature & Co.’ – wahoo!

So, what’s next? With every year, we look to build on the last – and our goals for 2024 are our biggest yet. We’re hoping to…

  • – Become a truly customer-centric, ethical and transparent organisation.
  • – Get customer feedback on the educational impact of our magazines to ensure strong editorial value.
  • – Report on customer satisfaction to understand the impact of changes made throughout the year.
  • – Seek feedback and endorsement from trusted organisations to prove and enhance the educational quality of our magazines.

Wish us luck! We’ll report our progress with our next Impact and Purpose Report in 2024.
