In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family – relatives of original Ghostbuster Egon – return to where the excitement began, New York City! There they team up with the old Ghostbusters, who’ve created a top-secret research lab in the iconic fire station.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a terrifying Ice Age!

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Want a recap on everything that’s happened in the Ghostbusters story so far? Let’s go bustin’ through time…

Ghostbusters (1984)

When three quirky scientistsPeter Venkman, Ray Stantz and Egon Spengler – lose their jobs, they start a ghost-catching business in New York City instead! Together with Winston Zeddemore, they must face the mischievous Slimer and the enormous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to save the city from paranormal chaos. Yikes!

Ghostbusters II (1989)

The Ghostbusters face a river of pink slime that amplifies negative emotions in the city. Helped by their friend Dana Barrett and her baby, the team confront the ancient evil Vigo, who’s trapped in a painting, to save New York once again. Epic!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

When science-loving Phoebe and her brother Trevor move to a small town in Oklahoma, USA, they discover their grandad Egon was one of the original Ghostbusters! Using Egon’s ghostbusting gear, they battle spooky spirits (including the mischievous Mini-Pufts) to prevent a ghostly apocalypse. Awesome!

Frosty Facts

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, an icy peril called The Death Chill threatens to cover New York in ice. But did you know there’s more to ice than the stuff in your freezer? Here are five cool facts about it…

  • 1. The lowest temperature ever documented on Earth was an astonishing –89.2°C. Brrr! It was recorded in Vostok, Antarctica, in 1983.
  • 2. There are lots of different kinds of ice, including black ice (transparent ice that you can’t see on roads), rubble ice (broken bits of ice caused when ice crashes or grinds together) and frost flowers (delicate ice shapes that are made when water seeps out of plants and looks like, er, flowers).
  • 3. The largest iceberg ever documented, named B-15, measured about 11,000km2 – that’s larger than Melbourne. Epic!
  • 4. Ice isn’t only found on Earth! Planets such as Mars and moons like Europa have ice present in various forms. Sadly, they don’t have ice cream, though!
  • 5. Ice worms are tiny, dark-coloured worms that live in glaciers! About as thin as dental floss, they can survive in extremely cold environments and are found in places like Alaska. Cool!
