Young Changemaker Hemang Vellore

It’s Hemang!

Fast facts about Hemang!

  • Name: Hemang Vellore
  • Age: 14
  • From: India
  • Passionate about: climate change, up-cycling, reducing waste!

What needs to change?

While Hemang was creating cool electrical projects on a course in Pabal, India, he noticed that there weren’t many trees in the city. Hot temperatures and frequent droughts made it hard for plants to grow there, and local people often struggled to get enough water, too.

These issues got Hemang thinking about climate change – and he was determined to make a difference! He decided to start increasing environmental awareness and from there, his ideas grew and grew…

How Hemang is helping!

Hemang wants to run awareness campaigns and workshops in schools in Hyderabad, India, to teach other kids all about climate change!

So far, Hemang has planned six different kinds of activities, including painting and drawing workshops using recycled materials, plastic waste up-cycle sessions, and making eco-bricks to build environmentally-friendly buildings!

And that’s not all, because Hemang also plans to run online workshops for his social media followers, urging them to join together to act on climate change. Plus, he’ll be planting ten trees every month tree-mendous!

You can be a changemaker, too!

Hemang’s work proves that anyone can become a Changemaker! All you need is a little bit of knowledge, some inspiration, and a whole lot of working together to make a difference. Yay!
